Your 9-5 look may not cut it when the sun goes down and it is time to party. It takes a little bit more time and effort to complete the look – but it certainly isn’t difficult and is most definitely worth it.

It all starts with having a good base to put the makeup on. Here are the steps to follow to prepare your skin for a glam party look:

Skin Prep

Now is not the time to try out new products – stick to what you have been using. Trying out a new product can lead to skin reactions, which will not only be uncomfortable but will affect how the makeup looks on your skin.

After cleaning your face, pat it dry carefully. Patting it gently is better than your skin than rubbing it. Let your moisturizer soak in before moving on to the next step.

The Base

Primer goes on first – before anything else. It gives the skin a smooth surface and helps your makeup last longer. Remember that a little goes a long way – try not to overdo it, that could defeat the purpose

Once the primer is dry, you can start applying foundation. Apply it with a foundation brush, a foam sponge, or your fingers. Apply the foundation along your forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks and then blend it outwards.

Cover blemishes and dark circles with a concealer that matches your skin tone. Blend the concealer gently so there are no visible outlines.

The Setting

The last step when preparing your skin is to set the foundation with powder. The powder helps the makeup adhere, and prevents your skin from looking oily. Use a powder brush, and brush it gently across your face. A translucent powder is ideal because it suits every skin tone and won’t change your look.
